Frequently Asked Questions

The right frequency for counseling depends on many factors—your needs, goals, and level of distress, as well as practical considerations like schedule and budget. The most common schedules are weekly or every other week.

Weekly sessions are often the best fit if you’re experiencing high levels of distress, working through something especially challenging, or simply wanting steady support to build momentum.

Every-other-week sessions can be a good fit if you’re seeking growth and support but aren’t in crisis or highly distressed. This schedule also works well when practical factors like budget or availability make weekly meetings less realistic. Many clients also shift to every other week after starting weekly, once they feel more stable and confident applying what they’ve learned between sessions.

I generally don’t recommend meeting less often than every other week, since consistency is important for building trust and maintaining progress—unless we’re nearing the end of therapy, when monthly or even quarterly check-ins may be helpful.

I currently see clients on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Appointments are available as early as 7:30 AM. The latest session I offer is typically at 3:30 PM, depending on availability.

Sadly, no.

If I were to meet with one partner more often than the other, it could create an imbalance that makes it harder for the couple’s work to move forward. Trust in the process depends on both partners feeling that the therapy space belongs to them equally.

I offer virtual sessions through Google Meet.

A few things to keep in mind:
  • You’ll need to be in South Carolina during the session.
  • Please be stationary (not driving or moving).
  • Make sure you’re in a private, quiet space where you can speak freely.

I’ve found that relationship counseling works best in person. Although individual sessions translate well to a virtual format, couples often benefit more from sitting together in the same room.

So much of the work we do together depends on connection, presence, and nuance. In person, I can notice nonverbal cues—like tone, posture, and eye contact—that often get lost on a screen. Sitting together in the same space also creates a shared, neutral environment that helps couples focus on one another without the distractions of home life.

When sessions are online, small interruptions—like talking over each other, internet glitches, or background noise—can quickly disrupt the flow of conversation. Conflict can also feel harder to navigate virtually, whereas, in person, it’s easier to slow down, stay present, and work through tough moments constructively.

For these reasons, I offer couple therapy in person only—so you and your partner get the most out of every session.

I am not in-network with any insurance providers at this time.

Upon request, I will provide a monthly or annual “superbill,” which you may submit to your insurance company. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement. Please note that it’s your responsibility to verify your benefits and submit documentation. Full payment is due at the time of each session.

For credit or debit card payments or HSA payments, the card on file will be charged overnight after your appointment. If you prefer to pay with cash or check, payment is due at the time of your session.

Here’s my missed and cancelled appointment policy:

  • In order to avoid a fee, appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled with 24 hours’ notice. An appointment cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a $100 fee. If you “no-show” the appointment, you will be charged the full amount for the session.

  • If it is 10 minutes or later after the scheduled appointment time and you have not notified me that you are running late, the appointment is considered missed, and I will no longer be available. You will be charged the full amount for the session.

  • If you are late to a session (less than 10 minutes, or more than 10 minutes with notice), your appointment will still need to end on time, and you will be charged the fee for the duration scheduled.

  • Opportunities for rescheduling an appointment will depend on availability.

Life happens. Through open communication, we can adapt when needed while maintaining the consistency that helps you move forward.
